Fast Track Dance Program
Overview

"Fast Track Dance" (FTD) is a new program offered to students who are serious about Dance as a hobby or potential future career. This exciting program is for students aged 12 -17 years who are prepared to undertake a considerable amount of commitment and who want to advance quickly with their dancing skills.

"Fast Track Dance" will provide students with a wonderful all round training in Ballet, Jazz,Tap, Modern, Hip Hop, Latin Jazz and for the older students Social Dance. Participants will also take Voice/Musical Theatre classes and undertake programs that touch on topics such as Dance History, Anatomy For Dancers, Audition Technique, Healthy Eating for Athletes, Career Options and more.

"Fast Track Dance" participation will result in a lot of time being spent at the studio. This program therefore also requires commitment and support from parents. Lockers will be provided for FTD students and a special quiet room where they can do their homework. ALL students enrolled in FTD must keep their school grades at the same level as when they joined the program in order to continue.

Workshop and Performances

FT students will have numerous opportunities to study with visiting dance companies and guest teachers. There is no additional fee for these classes. One such opportunity will be on November 6th when students will take a ballet workshop with teachers from The National Ballet School of Canada.

Live performance is an essential part of dance training. The School is from time to time is asked to perform at various conferences, galas and events. FT students will, when appropriate, be given priority when selecting students to perform. During the schools end of year recital FT students will also have opportunity to gain experience behind the scenes, learning about the technical aspect of running a show from understanding scheduling to plotting lights and editing music.

On the job training

Being a dancer or dance teacher is not always as glamorous or easy as some may think. Learning how a studio/business is run, is not only valuable to students who may be considering careers in the field, but also a very useful life learning tool. Those FT students who wish, will assist teachers in class and be given some administrative tasks as well as everyday studio responsibilities.

Schedule

Each students schedule will be set with their needs in mind. However the majority of classes will be taken with other FT students, which will create a great team spirit and encouraging working environment.

We will try to accommodate students current activities which they wish to continue, such as music classes or extra tutoring etc, however we do not expect students to undertake other activities which may interfere with their dance schedule once it has been set.

Below is the general schedule for each group. Changes may be made at the teachers discretion to better accommodate the needs of each individual.
